Description

This painting is a depiction of “Rani Lakshmi Bai”, also known as “Jhansi ki Rani”, who was the queen of the princely state of Jhansi in North India currently present in Jhansi district in Uttar Pradesh, India. She was one of the leading figures of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and became a symbol of resistance to the British Raj for Indian nationalists.

She was an embodiment of the saying, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and to me the figure of the strength and resolve of a woman. She can nurture like a mother, but also destroy like the Goddess Kali when the situation demands it. And do it all gracefully.

She doesn’t look angry, but don’t let her looks deceive you. It is deep in her eyes that you can see the resolve, to do the right thing, no matter the cost. She paid with her life for something she believed in, and that is something worth looking into every single day.

In my mind, this would be the perfect gift for someone who is the pillar of strength in your life, or even for yourself, to remind yourself of the strength of womanhood. It would also add a feeling of zeal and fervor to your living room or the office, saying you mean business.
